introduction
“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.”
Every child begins from being a non-reader until they become a leader in the future. Brigada Pagbasa Program of the DepEd is good opportunity for the children who are having a hard time learn how to read. It helps the children learn how to read. Brigada Pagbasa is not just about the student teacher that is teaching how to read, but it is a program where the student teacher like me also learns a lot from the children that we’ve handled. We learned that it was important to know how to read because we need to read most of the time.

The saying "You'll never know until you try" became my go-to guide for determining whether becoming a teacher is actually what I want to do. But if opportunity keeps coming knocking at your door, all you have to do is open the door and seize the chance. Being a student volunteer was challenging, but it was also a life-changing event for me. I was given the chance to teach the kids, which I thought I couldn't do .The entire Brigada Pagbasa journey enlightened up my mind because every time I reflected back into a session, I felt the same feelings: happiness and fulfillment. I enjoy being with them, having fun with them, and teaching them. I love to see my students put a lot of dedication into their studies, and I would love to see it in a day-to-day setting. That's when I realized that I would love to contribute to a child's dream, therefore I needed to become a teacher. And after many uncertainties, I am finally certain that this course is for me and that I am taking the right path.

I was once asked if I think that Elementary Education is the most important education of all. My answer did not falter until today and I still can vividly remember answering a confident "yes!". The Brigada Pagbasa made me realize that my stand was never wrong. In elementary, we teach the kids to write, to solve, and most importantly to read. It was such a favorable circumstance to me to be able to teach the kids even at a short period time. The kids aren't the only ones who learned but so do I.

Having the opportunity to be part of the Eduksaklolo Brigada Pagbasa Program has been an extremely rewarding experience. I've been exposed to an environment where I've given a chance to strengthen my skills and capabilities. This has motivated and helped me realize how fulfilling and genuinely inspiring it is to teach and inspire someone's life in a positive way.

I felt honored to have the opportunity to participate in the Brigada Pagbasa program as a student volunteer. Not only did I gain valuable experience, but I also derived great satisfaction from teaching students who were struggling with reading. Witnessing the growth and improvement in my student's abilities reaffirmed my belief that I have the potential to become an efficient teacher, thanks to the guidance and support provided by this important initiative and also by our cooperating teachers.

TRINA JOY MENDEZ
All throughout my journey as a volunteer student teacher who teaches children how to read, there are many realizations that I’ve realized and there are many things that I learned from the children that became my pupils. At first, I was hesitant about myself if I could teach children how to read. There are those times wherein I was really doubting myself if I could be an effective teacher if those children would really learn from me. To my surprise, I enjoyed the company of being surrounded by different children. It may be hard for me to teach them, especially since I am just a student teacher, but every time that I see how dedicated they are to reading, I always try to teach them well. I was happy every time that they saw me again, they said “teacher, alam ko na po basahin ‘yung binasa natin noon”, “teacher, marunong na po ako magbasa”. It warmed my heart hearing them saying that they can now read, and they really did what I said to them. Also, it’s not just me who taught them, but they also taught me how to become more patient. They made me realize that to be a teacher you need to have a lot of patience and it was all worth it when you saw your students learning.

NARISSA RODRIGUEZ
As a volunteer for Brigada Pagbasa, I had the privilege of engaging with learners from diverse backgrounds. Initially, I felt a mix of excitement and aprehension. However, these feelings soon dissipated as I immersed myself in the vibrant learning environment. The enthusiasm and curiosity of the learners were contagious, creating an atmosphere conducive to growth and discovery.
reflection
It is a tremendous honor and privilege to participate in the Brigada Pagbasa Program as a volunteer. This was a great opportunity for me as an aspiring Elementary Teacher of the future to enhance my skills and also to discover. Not only because of experience but also the chance to assist students who struggle with reading. It was a wonderful journey to be part of student's development, and seeing them enjoy and at the same time learn and improve makes me feel enthusiastic. It was nice to become one of the instruments that make a child improve even though I say that I was not yet in my fullest skills and knowledge to do so but I was greatly honored.
